Defense Minister Israel Katz says mounting pressure on Tehran could trigger direct confrontation, stressing Israel is prepared for defense and attack in coordination with US.

The Israeli security establishment has warned that there is an increased likelihood of potential escalation in the conflict with Iran.

Speaking at the “Time for Decision: Democracy and Society” conference, Defense Minister Israel Katz outlined the current intelligence assessment and explained that mounting economic pressure and growing tensions with the regime in Tehran could lead Iran to choose a path of open military confrontation with Israel.

Addressing the timing Iran may prefer for hostile action, Katz said: “They like to attack on Jewish holidays, because they are Jew-haters. Look at many of the things that happened in the past.”

At the same time, Katz sought to reassure the public, stressing that Israel’s security establishment has prepared in advance for every scenario.

“We are prepared for both defense and offense, in coordination with the United States,” he warned.

Emphasizing that Israel would not overlook or tolerate any attempt to attack its territory, he warned, “If they attack because of Lebanon, because of Samaria, because of Gaza, or simply because they feel like it, our planes are ready to take off.”
