US President Donald Trump urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conclude the conflict in Gaza and to eliminate the possibility of military action against Iran, as reported by N12 on Tuesday.
N12 cited these statements from the dialogue that occurred between Trump and Netanyahu on Monday.
Trump expressed to Netanyahu, “I want you to end the war,” reportedly emphasizing to Netanyahu that “it’s not merely the Witkoff deal that could be finalized. Both. Conclude it. The war is wearing itself out.”
Trump allegedly stated, “Ending the war will also facilitate negotiations with Iran and the Saudis.”
Concerning Iran, Trump mentioned that he had not abandoned negotiations, saying, “The Iranians will respond negatively, but not in a way that shuts the door,” as noted by N12.
The American president reportedly remarked, “I am confident that I will ultimately secure an agreement; for now, we need to remove the attack from the agenda.”
Trump confirmed that the phone conversation with Netanyahu took place on Monday.
On that day, Trump acknowledged that he discussed Iran with Netanyahu, adding that the conversation was productive and that he is “endeavoring to prevent death and destruction.”
He also remarked that Tehran is a formidable negotiator as discussions for a nuclear agreement progress. “We are currently engaged in extensive efforts regarding Iran,” Trump stated at an economic event at the White House. “It is challenging… They are excellent negotiators.”
“They are merely requesting concessions that are untenable. They are unwilling to relinquish what they must surrender,” he continued. “They pursue enrichment. We cannot allow enrichment. We desire the exact opposite. And thus far, they have not reached that point.”
