US officials are of the opinion that Israel is poised to execute an attack on Iran and may initiate military operations against Iran’s nuclear sites in the near future, as reports indicated early Thursday. This comes despite ongoing high-level discussions aimed at achieving a diplomatic resolution regarding Tehran’s nuclear activities, which are scheduled to continue on Sunday.
The information, sourced from US networks NBC and CBS, suggested that Israel was progressing towards a long-anticipated military strike. This development occurred shortly after the US declared its intention to withdraw certain personnel from the area due to concerns that they might be targeted by Iran in retaliatory actions.
These actions followed US President Donald Trump’s expression of diminished confidence in his administration’s ability to secure a deal with Iran, as negotiations appeared to stall over Tehran’s demand to retain low-level uranium enrichment.
On Thursday, a senior Iranian official informed Reuters that a “friendly” nation in the region had warned Tehran about a possible military strike by Israel.
The official remarked that the rising tensions were aimed at compelling Tehran to alter its stance regarding its nuclear rights during the upcoming discussions with the United States in Oman on Sunday, and asserted that Tehran would remain steadfast in its commitment to maintaining some level of enrichment.
