It won’t be the first time that President Trump has been nominated.
But who knows — this time he could come away with the win, considering he’s apparently the only head of state currently working to AVOID WWIII, while all the rest seem to be racing to see who can get there first.
Today, Republican Congressman Darrell Issa of California announced that he will nominate President Trump for the Nobel Peace Price, posting his announcement on X:
Today I will nominate @realDonaldTrump for the Nobel Peace Prize. No one deserves it more.
— Rep. Darrell Issa (@repdarrellissa) March 3, 2025
Considering that he’s the only American President in my lifetime (and I’m not “young”) who didn’t start a war or make an ongoing war even worse… he more than qualifies, if we’re being fair.
Initially, Rep. Issa of California didn’t detail exactly what impact President Trump had made which would be attached to his nomination.
Later, a spokesperson for Rep. Issa released a statement detailing that President Trump’s efforts to bring peace in the Mideast would form the basis for the nomination, according to The Hill:
“Today I will nominate @realDonaldTrump for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Issa wrote in a post on X. “No one deserves it more.”
Issa did not specify in his post why he was nominating the president.
In a subsequent statement, however, Issa’s spokesperson pointed to Trump’s peace efforts in the Middle East.
“Congressman Issa recently led a Codel [Congressional delegation] to four Middle East nations – he observed first-hand and from several heads of state that the spirit of peace and moving away from conflict is real and multilateral,” Jonathan Wilcox, Issa’s deputy chief of staff and communications director, said in a statement to The Hill.
“From the time of his election and after being sworn in, President Trump has inspired and promoted the cause of peace – and in a way we have not heard in many years,” Wilcox continued.
