A trifecta of devastating winter storms are set to hammer the East Coast in the coming days – blanketing states with thick snow and putting millions of people under weather warnings. 

The already-frigid temperatures are set to be kicked into overdrive with a trio of storms impacting the nation – while blisteringly-cold Siberian air is expected to reach as far south as the country’s Gulf Coast in the coming days. 

The first of the three is to drop snow and rain over parts of the Midwest and Northeast on Saturday and is likely to impact Indianapolis, Detroit and Cleveland. That same mix of snow and rain will then move into the interior Northeast, before another storm looks set to form in the Appalachians, according to CNN. 

The second storm will move over into southern New York and southern New England on Sunday afternoon. 

Snow will fall more inland, with those near the coast to expect heavy rain throughout the day, with 1 to 3 inches of snow to fall from Washington DC to New England and amounts as high as 3 to 6 inches west of I-95. 

Forecasting a potential third storm was ‘tricky’ according to Meteorologist Mary Gilbert, as officials made the call on Friday to have President-elect Trump’s inauguration indoors due to the inclement weather due to a polar vortex. 

Forecasts on inauguration day indicate highs only in the 20s, with whatever snow falling on Sunday expected to stick around.
