Following the suspected Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria, US intelligence has warned that an Iran-led revenge attack is imminent sparking fears of war throughout the region and beyond
Iran has promised to “punish” Israel with a revenge attack, sparking fears the Israel-Hamas war will escalate into WW3.
Tehran’s threat is in response to the deadly assault on the Iranian consulate in Syria, believed to be carried out by Israeli war planes and which killed seven officers including one of Tehran’s top generals.
US intelligence has warned a retaliation strike by Iran, or one of its terror proxies like Hezbollah or the Houthis, on Israel is a matter of if not when, and potentially coming within days, reports Bloomberg.
It’s feared the attack could be the catalyst for all out war breaking out in the Middle East, which could in turn spark WW3.
The Sun reports that if Iran directly launches an attack on Israel, the country could call on allies Russia, China and North Korea for support. Western forces may be drawn into the conflict if fighting spills out from the Middle East.
Countries in the Middle East and the US have been on high alert since the Iranian embassy in Damascus was bombed on April 1, 2024. General Mohammad Reza Zahedi died alongside six other senior members of the tyrannic Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
