Astonishing images have shown the earth ripping open like a piece of paper in scenes some have likened to the apocalypse movie 2012, as Iceland evacuated thousands of residents
The ground has opened up to “look like a scene out of 2012” as Iceland evacuates ahead of a volcanic eruption.
Icelanders have been told to get to safety as the Reykjanes peninsula continues to be shaken by hundreds of earthquakes. The country’s Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir has sought to reassure citizens.
Some 900 quakes were detected by the Icelandic meteorological service between midnight and early afternoon on Monday (November 13). As the county’s land shifts and moves, astonishing scenes have emerged showing land tearing apart.
Footage and imagery show the ground ripped in two like a piece of paper. In the past few days, thousands of Earthquakes have been recorded and now experts are highly suspicious that the Fagradalsfjall volcano is going to erupt.
