NEWS REPORT:
US secretary of state Antony Blinken met with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday in a high-security surprise visit to the West Bank.
The top US diplomat met with Abbas in his latest bid to ease civilian suffering in the Gaza Strip and begin to sketch out a post-conflict scenario for the territory.
Mr Blinken travelled to Ramallah for the previously unannounced visit in an armoured motorcade and under tight security.
