Messages from the US and European nations echo support and condemnation following the unexpected attack initiated by Hamas
The world spoke out against the attack on Israel by Hamas on Saturday, saying it was a “genocide”. The US Embassy in Jerusalem released a statement saying they were “deeply disturbed” by the images of people being killed and hurt in southern Israel by Gazan terrorists. They added that the US stands with Israel.
Europe was quick to back up Israel’s right to protect itself. The Italian and British governments were the most vocal. The German government said that “terrorism will never win in our country, and we support Israel in its right to protect itself”. “Israel enjoys our full support and, according to international law, has the right to defend itself against terrorism,” said German Foreign Minister Annelena Baerbock.
