The North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, has called for a “new Cold War” and said he’s ready to expand his nuclear capabilities. Speaking to parliament, he said he needs to speed up nuclear modernization in response to US provocations.
In a speech to the Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim stressed the need for North Korea to speed up its nuclear weapons modernization in order to maintain the edge of strategic deterrence. He said that the US, which has been stuck in the Cold War mindset, has gone too far in its military actions.
Kim also said that the country needs to work on increasing its nuclear weapons production and diversifying its strike capabilities. He also said that the government has made nuclear force-building a permanent law, which no one can break. This comes after North Korea’s parliament revised the Constitution to make it a permanent nuclear status.
