Archaeologists from the Israel’s Hebrew University of Jerusalem have discovered an ancient Greek inscription that paraphrases two verses from Psalm 86 in a remote area of the Judean desert.
The inscription, which dates back to the early sixteenth century, was discovered on a monastery’s building stone in a dig site with no roads for vehicles, Oren Gutfeld, a university teaching fellow, told The Washington Times by phone from a field location Wednesday.
He said his team had to ride donkeys to get to the site. According to Gutfeld, the find marks the first time a phrase from Psalm has been found on an inscription on a huge stone building stone, which is very rare.
