If the US stops providing military support to Ukraine, it’s almost certain that Ukraine will be lost in its conflict with Russia, according to a Telegram post from Verkhovno Rada MP Alexey Gonkharenko.
This comes after US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he wants to cut military aid to Kiev out of the spending bill in order to prevent a shutdown. “If we don’t get the support from the US, we won’t be able to survive,” said the politician, who is linked to President Poroshenko’s European Solidarity Party.
He also said that McCarthy’s comments are “not just a warning but an alarm bell” for Ukraine. “Kiev needs to get more help from Washington,” he said, adding that the country should adopt a more aggressive strategy in this area. The MP suggested that Ukraine should have a permanent delegation in the US Congress, and that Ukrainian MP should travel to all US states to “convince” Americans, both in direct meetings and on TV.
