President Joe Biden went after Donald Trump in a fiery speech in Arizona on Thursday, saying he was out for revenge and vengeance. He also accused his opponent of plotting to destroy the US Constitution if he wins in 2024.
Biden called on people to stand up and protect democracy before it’s too late. His speech came after House Republicans started impeachment hearings against the president, citing unproven claims that he was lying about his son’s business dealings.
“Democracies do not have to end with a bang,” Biden said, “but they can end when people are silenced, when they don’t speak up, or when they ignore threats to democracy.”
