The US officially admitted Israel to the Visa Waiver Program on Wednesday, and now Israeli citizens will be able to take advantage of the benefits.
Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Homeland Security Alex Mayorkas gave the news. On Tuesday, Axios reported Blinken had signed a letter asking Secretary Mayorkas to let Israel join the program.
It’s expected that it’ll take a few weeks to get the program up and running, and by November, Israelis will be able to come to the US without having to show a visa, which they’ve been required to do up until now.
To sign up for the ESTA, which grants the visa exemption, you’ll need to fill out a questionnaire in English. The visa exemption is valid for two years.
