On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia’s new ambassador to the Palestinians arrived in Ramallah to introduce himself to the Palestinian Authority. He said that the Kingdom is working towards a two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the capital, and that it is the first time in three decades that a Saudi delegation has been sent to the West Bank.
He also said that he had presented his credentials to President Mahmoud Abbas and Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, both of whom praised the strong historical and fraternal ties between the two countries.
He also pointed to statements made by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salaman last week at the United Nations General Assembly, in which he said he was very interested in the Palestinian issue.
